AdmissionsConsultants, Inc. is pleased to announce that Michael B. Machen, JD, who served as the director of financial aid and was a key admissions and recruiting officer for the University of Chicago Law School from 2002 until last month, has joined the company's law school admissions group.
Mr. Machen will provide guidance and expertise to clients aiming for admission to Ivy League and other top-tier law schools.
In addition to directing all aspects of student financial aid at the University of Chicago Law School, Mr. Machen actively served on the admissions committee, where he reviewed over 9,000 law school applications, and participated in hundreds of admissions committee meetings. He also recruited nationally for Chicago's law school, traveling to many undergraduate colleges and universities to meet with prospective and admitted students. He also created and implemented a new public-interest focused scholarship program.
Before working at the University of Chicago Law School, Mr. Machen was an associate with Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg, a Chicago law firm founded by a former dean of the University of Chicago Law School. At Neal Gerber, he focused on mergers and acquisitions, as well as venture capital transactions.
He earned his JD from the University of Michigan in 2000, as well as a bachelor's degree in English and
psychology in 1996. Prior to law school, Mr. Machen lived in Athens, Greece, where he tutored
students in English and traveled as much as possible.
He joins other AdmissionsConsultants advisers based in Chicago, and a worldwide admissions consultancy with former admissions officers from Harvard University, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University, Northwestern University and other top schools.
