All eight Ivy League schools sent
notification letters to fall 2005 early
applicants (early action and early decision) in mid-December. The following table
summarizes the information we have on the number of
early admission (EA) applications received and accepted
at each school. These statistics were up over those of
the previous year at some schools, and down at others.
The one general trend is that admissions officers noted an exceptionally strong pool of applicants
under this year's early admission program. At schools
where a higher percentage of EA applications was
accepted than in previous years, the reason given for
the increase was
that the pool was exceptionally strong.
