Current Status
Congratulations to our many admitted
applicants! They worked very hard and, with
the encouragement and challenges from their
consultants, were able to really analyze their
school selections, think hard to
uncover the best possible essay topics to
communicate their unique stories and themes,
produce the best possible applications, and
deliver their finest interview performances. I
am very proud to say that we have helped
applicants gain admission into all of the Ivy
League schools again this year as well as many
fine, non Ivy League universities and
colleges. I would also like to congratulate
the many applicants who won significant
scholarships (over 50% of tuition) to their
'stretch' schools.
While we will not conduct an official tally
until late spring, it appears that we are
going to once again have similar success rates
to last year when over 80% of our 3
application clients and over 95% of our 5 or
more application clients received admission
offers to at least one of their top-choice
schools!
Special 'Head Start' Offer
As a professional services firm, we do not
believe in running lots of 'specials' at
AdmissionsConsultants. However, we do have a
current special that we believe will be
incredibly valuable to those of you planning
to apply to business school, law school, or
medical school this coming year. We invite you
to sign up for a one-hour 'pre admissions'
consultation. These consultations are
custom-tailored to each unique individual and
contain, in addition to brutally-honest and
candid assessments of your chances at various
schools, valuable positioning tips you will
not find in any books or group seminars. Your
candidacy is different from every one else's
and the advice you receive should be different
as well.
So, why exactly is this a special offer?
Because we will allow you to deduct the price
of this pre admissions consultation from a
multiple application package should you decide
to retain our services for a fixed-fee
multiple application package. These packages
are comprehensive and include unlimited
telephone support and unlimited essay
revisions as well as comprehensive help that
covers letters of reference, resumes/cvs,
application completion, and interview
preparation. We leave no stones unturned and
this comprehensive approach combined with our
unique qualifications as former admissions
committee members who made
accept/reject/waitlist decisions has produced
an astounding 95% success rate.
We only require a minimum one hour retainer
fee because we are so confident that you will
be happy with our services and you will
voluntarily return to us for additional help
with your applications. With this offer, in
addition to getting our signature,
comprehensive service for your applications,
you will also have several months to implement
a detailed action plan to optimize your
positioning and further increase your chances
of gaining admission to your top-choice
schools. Essentially, you will get a free
initial consultation if you retain us for a
fixed-fee multiple application package and the
extra months to implement your positioning
will further boost your admissions chances!
Let's face it. We know that your service will
only be as good as the consultant with whom
you work. Our consultants earn far more than
their counterparts elsewhere and our prices
are very competitive because we choose to
spend our money on top-notch consultants
instead of advertising. If you take advantage
of this special offer, you will be helping
yourself and, when you are successful at
gaining admission to your top-choice schools,
you will be helping us as well!
Expert Witness Testimony
We are once again providing expert testimony
for a law firm. This lawsuit requires an
accurate assessment of a teenager’s college
admissions chances. The nation’s top attorneys
seek us out for the same reasons thousands of
applicants do. Our expertise of the admission
process and our ability to successfully
advocate our clients are unsurpassed.

School Admission Calendar
Many admissions offers have already been made
and waitlists are being compiled. Most schools
will be turning to their waitlists very soon.
So, if you have been waitlisted at a school
that accepts additional submissions, do not
procrastinate!
MBA admissions consultant and former Tuck
Associate Director of Admission Gretchen Boehm
states, "It is not too late to apply to
business school for fall matriculation. Many
schools have deadlines in March and will still
be admitting students. There is a perception
by applicants that all the spots are filled by
the second round. Not true. Strong applicants
will be admitted no matter what round they
apply. One part of your application strategy
is to have a sound reason why you have waited
for the last round. Also, MBA applications are
down this year, causing schools to become much
more concerned about yield. Therefore, a late
round applicant with a sincere desire to
attend a particular program has a better
chance of acceptance this year. So go for it!
We at AdmissionsConsultants can help you get
together a strong application for the last
round, focusing on your overall story, and
tightening up your reasons for late/last round
submission."
If you are concerned about the timing of your
applications, give us a ring. We can assign
you to your own personal consultant and
schedule an initial consultation with you. We
can determine whether you should apply now or
wait until the fall. If we advise you to wait
until the fall, we will include a detailed
action plan as part of the consultation to
ensure you are optimally positioned for those
fall applications. As we stated earlier, you
can now deduct the price of a pre admissions
consultation from a fixed-fee multiple
application package purchased this summer or
fall!
MBAs: Show Them the Money
Let the good times continue to roll!
According to a
recent feature article, the
Class of 2005 is doing exceptionally well on
the job front.
Have You Been Waitlisted or Dinged?
We can help determine the most probable
reasons for your waitlist or ding. We can also
provide you with customized advice on how to
get accepted off a waitlist. If you have been
dinged, we can give you an honest assessment
of your candidacy and advise you on the
feasibility of re-applying next year. We will
also provide you with a personalized and
detailed action plan to ensure you are
optimally positioned for next year's
applications and we will also advise you on
which schools you should be targeting.
Are You Preparing for an Admissions Interview?
We can ensure you are properly prepared for
the questions the admissions committees are
really going to ask you and, yes, these
questions do vary from applicant to applicant
based on your story and resume. (All of our
consultants have actually conducted admissions
interviews on behalf of top business schools
including Wharton, Kellogg, Chicago, MIT,
Tuck, Haas, and Cornell.) You can schedule a
one hour mock interview with one of our
consultants by replying to this email or

We provide professional assistance to all high
school students no matter how early or how far
along they are in their college plans. Our
college admissions news is organized by high
school class.
High School Seniors (Class of 2005):
Looming Application Deadlines
If you have applied to the very selective
schools with early January deadlines, there is
not much for you to do now except wait. For
other schools with later deadlines, if you
have not yet submitted your applications, you
want to get started right away. A good way to
start is by obtaining any necessary items
(such as recommendations) from teachers and
guidance counselors. These are often 'critical
time paths' in the application process
Financial Aid
Do not wait to get started on your financial
aid forms. You should complete your CSS profile and submit your
FASFA form now if you have not already
done so. Do not worry that your tax returns
have not yet been completed. You can include
estimates on your FASFA and then make
corrections on your SAR (Student Aid Report).
Applicants who do not submit their FASFA forms
by March 1 are not guaranteed as much aid as
they may have otherwise received.
High School Juniors (Class of 2006):
Register for the spring
SAT and/or
ACT exam date.
Sara Hernández, a college admissions
consultant and former Assistant Director of
Admissions at
Cornell
University, states, "It
is alright if you do not do as well as you
would like on the spring exams. Taking them in
the spring allows you to get a sense of your
strengths and weaknesses. That way, you can
use your time wisely in preparing to retake
the exams in the early fall. Keep in mind that
college admissions committees typically
consider your highest subscores from the exams
to obtain your highest possible composite
score."
Sophomores, Freshmen, and Eighth Graders
(Classes of 2007 – 2009):
You are strongly encouraged to register for
the most competitive curriculum for which you
are prepared. Now is also the time to begin
working on the summer enrichment program
applications.

Law
School Admission News
Law school admissions consultant and former
Harvard Law School admissions officer Mark
Meyerrose states, "Too many applicants realize
in September that there is a 'gap' in their
resume or experience; and by that time it is
too late to do anything about it. When I was
at HLS, we would often see individuals who
would try to plug those gaps by beginning new
activities in August or September. Not
surprisingly, such attempts to 'play to the
Committee' would inevitably underscore a lack
of involvement or other shortcoming of that
person's application. With the right approach,
at this early stage, it is possible to
identify any possible areas of weakness and
highlight a candidate's strengths."
According to
law-school-admission.com, the application
volume at the mid-year mark is slightly above
last year’s record level.

LSAT expert Bara Sapir advises, “To maximize your
performance on the critical reasoning section
of the LSAT, you will need to accept the logic
presented in the short paragraphs as gospel
truth and read both the question stem and the
argument with absolute precision. Because the
LSAT is supposed to simulate real world
skills, they measure your ability to absorb
facts and arguments, and then apply them with
strict accuracy and precision. It is
especially useful to identify the assumptions
that lay behind the argument and then ask
yourself, what is this question really asking?
Some questions require you to draw an
inference and arrive at a logical conclusion
based upon the facts and reasoning presented.
The more sensitive you become to nuances of
language and logic form, the easier it will be
for you to master the critical reasoning
sections.”
Now is the time to begin thinking about which
school will best help you meet your
educational and career goals and how best to
position your application. You can sign up
today for a highly customized 'pre admissions'
consultation, and we will allow you to deduct
the price of this one-hour consultation from a
multiple application package should you decide
to retain our services for a Silver, Gold,
Platinum, or Diamond application package. We
only require a minimum one hour retainer fee
because we are that confident that you will be
happy with our services and you will
voluntarily return to us for additional help
with your applications. With this offer, in
addition to getting our signature,
comprehensive service for your applications,
you will also have several months to implement
a detailed action plan to optimize your
positioning and further increase your chances
of gaining admission to your top-choice law
schools.

Medical
School Admission News
Most medical school applications for the
2004-2005 application season have already been
submitted. Right now, we are mostly conducting
mock interviews and 'pre admissions
consultations' for those applicants seeking a
head start on their positioning for future
medical school applications.
"Your positioning is very important to the
admissions process and there are still some
things 2006 applicants should do now that will
take relatively little time and produce
efficient results. The most important item,
though, should be preparing for the MCAT. The
MCAT and the GPA have approximately equal
weight in the admissions process. With two and
a half years of coursework already behind
them, most college juniors can not
dramatically change their GPA in this one
semester. They can, however, make an enormous
difference in their MCAT score by putting
serious effort into their preparation. If any
course this semester is taking up so much time
that you can not study for the MCAT, withdraw
from it before it is too late to do so,"
declares medical school admission consultant
Greg Goldmakher, M.D., Ph.D.
If you are planning to take the MCAT, the
aggregate feedback on MCAT test prep materials
from those many clients we have helped over
our nearly 9 years in business, as well as the
personal preferences of our consultants, is
freely available for your perusal at
www.admissionsconsultants.com/medical/books.asp.
